PREPARING YOUR FILES FOR PRINT

GENERAL

  1. Are all the fonts embedded?
  2. Keep all crop and fold marks in the slug area and away from the artwork and bleed area.
  3. Is there between 3mm to 5mm bleed?
  4. Are all colour elements CMYK? (Note that RGB should not be used at all)
  5. For large areas using Solid Black Ink, please use a Rich Black such as:
    C: 40%, M: 30%, Y: 30%, K: 100%
    or  C: 40%, M: 0%, Y: 0%, K: 100%
DO NOT USE 100% x 4 colours, as this creates issues on the Digital and Conventional presses.
  6. Are all images above 300 dpi (If possible - Often older style photos are low resolution due to original quality and we will accept these low res images if you acknowledge you are happy with a lower print quality image).
  7. Please provide cover spread and inside text pages as two separate PDF files (see link examples below).

COVER

  1. Are all colours CMYK?
  2. Are the Cover, Spine and Back pages all one flat file with crops and folds? (Examples below).
  3. Please indicate spine fold marks with correct spine width we have provided to suit the appropriate stock and bind.
  4. INSIDE COVER SPREADS: Please leave width of spine ink free for optimal binding.
  5. Ask us the spine width once page count has been finalised and please indicate this exact width with fold marks in the slug area. (Examples below).
  6. For large areas of Solid Black Ink, please use a Rich Black such as:
    C: 40%, M: 30%, Y: 30%, K: 100%
    or  C: 40%, M: 0%, Y: 0%, K: 100%
DO NOT USE 100% x 4 colours, as this creates issues on the Digital and Conventional presses.

TEXT (INSIDE) PAGES

  1. Are all colours CMYK if 4 colour?
  2. Are all colours Greyscale if 1 colour mono (e.g. Black)?

  4. Are the page dimensions the correct printing size as per quote?
  5. Is the page count as per quote?
